Analysis of Technology Issues
SVEWG can accommodate your requirements for analysis of technology issues that encompass a wide range of subjects. The following is a summary of our expertise: Full list of expertise

Assessment of Trade Secrets
In today's world of rapidly changing technology and accelerated obsolescence, trade secrets are critical to any technology company's ability to success in the market place. Great care has been taken to recruit distinguished subject matter experts with high academic achievement and decades of industry experience. SVEWG's consultants are skilled in understanding the value of trade secrets and determining what portion of a technical product or idea is truly unique or part of the public domain. The rapidly changing landscape of the state-of-the-art requires the assistance of subject matter experts that are not only experienced in litigation support, but who are also deeply involved in the technology at issue. Whether you require a practitioner or a theoretician, SVEWG has the expert best suited to your requirements.

Due-Diligence
When acquiring a company, a product or a technology, engaging the services of an objective technology expert is critical to a well-executed decision. SVEWG consultants have the prerequisite skills and experience in complex technology, marketing business and legal disciplines to effectively provide value in the assessment of high-technology products, services and manufacturing capability.

Market Research and Analysis
The expertise and experience that makes a consultant an excellent legal support expert is directly applicable to issues involving the market for high-technology products and services. SVEWG's market research consultants can bring focus on strategic planning and market research issues, determination of market share for high-technology products, corporate partnering and technology licensing, sales organization and management.

Patent Infringement Analysis
The SVEWG Registry of Consultants consists of individuals with specific areas of expertise. Our consultants are not generalists; they are industry practitioners who spend approximately 25% of their time in legal support activities. As a result, the SVEWG expert is capable of assisting in the analysis of products alleged to infringe a patent. Our consultants assist our clients in the development of patent claims charts that detail infringement, claim element by claim element.

Patent Validity Analysis
The typical strategy for defendants faced with patent infringement litigation is to attack the validity of the patent?s claims. The vast majority of the matters for which SVEWG consultants are engaged involve intellectual property issues. Consequently, the SVEWG Registry of Consultants is comprised of many experts who have extensive experience in supporting our clients in patent litigation matters. Great care has been taken to recruit distinguished subject matter experts with high academic achievement and decades of industry experience. These are experts who have the background, experience and expertise necessary to help our clients analyze the Section 102 and 103 prior art used in supporting arguments that can either support or attack a patent's validity.

Prior Art Research and Analysis
Law firms have the resources to gather prior art through the United States Patent & Trademark Office, research services of Lexis-Nexis, Dialog Corporation and other business and technology search services. Rarely, however, do these sources produce the Section 102 anticipatory art that can be used to invalidate a patent's claims. Section 102 prior art that anticipates a patent?s claims is normally found through the work product and efforts of industry practitioners who have worked in the relevant technology at the relevant time. Through our understanding of the technologies in which we focus, SVEWG is able to provide our clients with consultants that have this critical experience and skill.

Product Testing
SVEWG's consultants can provide access to the test facilities and laboratories that are used for the testing required in product liability matters, due-diligence, contract disputes and other matters that require physical testing. SVEWG has access to a variety of laboratory facilities that can provide the analysis of a variety of technology products, from semiconductors to assembled systems.

Project Management
SVEWG Principals have decades of technology and legal support experience that maximizes the efficiency of the selection of experts with the relevant expertise our client's require. SVEWG Principals are skilled in project management techniques and time management issues. In today?s legal environment, where litigation costs must answer to budget restraints, it can be extremely valuable to have the support of a project management team. In cases where multiple consultants are required, we can provide project management services to facilitate the interface between lawyer and consultant, assist in the management of research data, database and otherwise catalog prior art, etc.

Reverse Engineering
Frequently, our clients are faced with the requirement to prove alleged patent infringement or theft of trade secrets. To accomplish this difficult task, the products involved must be reverse engineered to recreate the design schematics or manufacturing process. Reverse engineering is a time-consuming process that requires specific expertise in the relevant technology, and experience in the reverse engineering process. For example, when reverse engineering semiconductor components, SVEWG consultants will require the assistance of a laboratory capable of decapsulating the integrated circuit and/or providing for the cross-sections of the semiconductor product that are required for the analysis. The key is having access to the SVEWG Registry of Consultants that cover the breadth of expertise necessary for reverse engineering activities in high-technology matters.

Tutoring for Attorneys and the Court
A key element in the selection of individuals suitable for the SVEWG Registry of Consultants is the consultant's ability to explain complex technology in terms a layperson can understand. Many of SVEWG's experts are current or former University-level academics with years of teaching experience. Several of SVEWG's experts have been selected as Court-Appointed experts to assist the Court in understanding complex technology. Others provide technology tutorials and participate in seminars that focus on their related fields. These same skills are invaluable when there are requirements for tutoring attorneys and the court, or in working with graphic artists and demonstrative evidence experts in creating presentations for Court and Jury that make complex issues understandable.
