In 1973 he set up in practice as a Consultant specialising in advising on building contract interpretation, drafting and disputes. He has had many appointments as expert witness, adviser and consultant charged with the conduct of and/or as advocate in arbitration proceedings. He now practices as an adviser and as arbitrator, adjudicator and mediator. He has had over 400 appointments as arbitrator in domestic and international construction (building, civil engineering and mechanical engineering) and other commercial disputes ranging in size from a few hundreds to many millions of pounds, both as sole arbitrator and as a member of three-member tribunals.
