She serves on the Rhode Island Attorney General's Task Force to Improve End of Life Care focusing on pain assessment and management. She has been active in legislative advocacy, resulting in the passage of the Rhode island Pain Assessment Act. This act requires licensed health care facilities and providers to assess pain on a regular basis. She has developed educational programs concerning pain assessment and management and assists the Department of the Attorney General which includes the Office of Health Care Advocate and the Medicaid Fraud Abuse Unit with issues regarding pain and the failure to treat pain.
