Short Biography:

STP/IP PRODUCT MANAGER January 2003 - present

In additon to STP Procust Manager responsibilities, assigned to take over IP signaling product development direction. Within 1 month, redirected product development of system level architecture features and functionality. Responsible for IETF Signaling protocol (M3UA, SUA, M2PA, M2UA, SCTP) development, priority, and revenue generation.

Implemented and led highly confidential program aimed at analyzing strategic competitors products. Co-developed sales/marketing/ engineering/patent strategy to counteract competitive threat.

Wrote 14 patents to protect corporate intellectual property



STP PRODUCT MANAGER August 1999 - present

Assisted in developing $200 Million CDMA, GSM, SS7 telephony and 2.5/3G wireless Product Plan used for customer commitments and staffing plans by internal organizations. Responsible for North American wireless and wireline applications and features. Spearheaded early rapid requirement definition, customer presentations and contractual negotiations. Negotiated feature sets to meet revenue targets while maintaining a balance between customer commitments and the companys ability to deliver product on schedule.

In-depth knowledge of MTP, SCCP and TCAP signaling protocols in ANSI and ITU networks. Experienced in T1, E1, IP and ATM signaling transport protocols. Knowledgeable of upcoming wireless protocols including Wireless Application Protocol (WAP), WLAN (802.11a,b,g, 802.16, 802.20) and HIPERLAN. Adept at clear requirements definition for both software and hardware features. Assigned to lead upcoming features that were key to maintaining the companys financial success.

Recognized and respected as key technical contact in primary RBOC and Wireless accounts regarding network operation and key industry specifications. Specifications included GR-246 (SS7 signaling), GR-82 (STP requirements), GR-310/778 (SEAS-NetPilot interface), IS-41D, and GSM (Phase 1-3). Resolved key technical hurdles that enabled closure of a $15 million contract with a $115 million upside potential.

Lead Product Management technical resource during product lifecycle. When schedules required cross-functional effort, wrote engineering level documents and performed testing of new features in the lab. Also wrote customer documentation when dictated by company needs. Looked upon as key contributor/motivator for project teams. Received extra effort award from project team.

Defined and implemented Product Bulletin process for notifying customers of form, function or fit changes to the product and Request for Feature process and database for tracking new functionality requested by the customer base.

Co-Authored 7 patents ranging from SS7 network security to WAP to WLAN technology and their application(s) in telephony.

STP PRODUCT ENGINEER December 1998 - August 1999

Defined and documented customer requirements in Product Functional Specification (PFS) and conveyed these requirements to engineering for implementation. Requirements definition and experience include SS7 signaling, Wireless (IS-41D, PCS, GSM), and Local Number Portability (LNP).

Provided technical support to key customer accounts. Presented product plan and technical aspects of the product to executive through technical level customer personnel. Enabled closure of $14 million contract by solving customer network issues with existing products.

QUALITY ENGINEER January 1996 - December 1997

Design and Implementation of an Excel Visual Basic program that evaluated large databases and presented the data in easy to read graphs. Used extensively by Executive Management for daily business decisions.

Achieved certification as Certified Quality Engineer, Certified Quality Manager, and Certified Reliability Engineer.

Implementation of hardware field failure analysis. Root caused identified and corrected 4 specific supplier related problems that lead to a 32% reduction in field failures.

Worked with Verification Test Group for a 3-month period to gain hands-on product knowledge.

Instituted Employee Training Program for new software employees. Received high acclaim from Division General Manager for spearheading this effort.


ALCATEL, Fuquay Varina, NC (July 1993 - December 1995)

QUALITY ASSURANCE MANAGER

Responsible for the Fiber-Optics Divisions Quality Assurance Department performance. Management and implementation of ISO 9001 quality system and related documentation (Levels I and II).

During high volume periods, assigned as Assistant Plant Manager. Coordination of shipping and production priorities with the sales department. Implemented automatic ship date report allowing quick and concise communication of factory orders to all departments.

Implementation and management of Statistical Process Control on the manufacturing floor. Personally reorganized product qualification program to conform to telecommunications and data communications industry standards. Established plant-wide training program.

Daily interaction with sales, marketing, applications and product engineering departments. Review of customer problems concerning data communications, local area network (LAN) and telecommunications applications. Review of new product feasibility regarding manufacturing capabilities and materials selection. Ongoing involvement with new product development.


UNITED STATES NAVY- USS VIRGINIA, Norfolk, VA (May 1988 -May 1993)

NUCLEAR ELECTRICAL OFFICER, REACTOR ELECTRICAL OFFICER, REPAIR OFFICER

Completion of complex maintenance projects ahead of schedule as Plant Supervisor, repeatedly selected as Plant Supervisor for complex, timely projects. Ensured the quality installation and testing of high tolerance components during periods of limited maintenance availability achieving sooner than expected plant operation.

Responsible for maintenance and performance of entire electrical distribution system including all instrument and control (I&C) circuitry involved with both Nuclear Reactor plants. Supervised all maintenance and operation of both Nuclear Reactor plants as Engineering Duty Officer.

Assumed direction of a badly demoralized department characterized by equipment neglect and personnel despair. Quickly raised morale and production sufficiently to be recognized by the Department of the Navy for outstanding performance. (No other department had yet achieved same distinction).
