Career History
Patrick joined the firm in 1986 after spending five years in the specialist Banking and Insurance audit group of a London big five firm where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant.

In 1989, after almost four years of working in the firm's tax and financial planning departments, Patrick focused on forensic work and the regulatory aspects of the financial services sector. His broad investigations experience and practical knowledge of the Financial Services industry have brought him over 100 assignments for the FSA and the former UK financial services regulators, several for UK prosecution authorities and an increasing number for regulated businesses and offshore regulators.

Patrick was appointed a forensic partner in 1994 and is now a lead partner in the firm's Financial Markets Group. He is a member of the Investment Business Authorisation Committee at the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland.

Forensic Experience
Since 1990 Patrick has undertaken predominantly forensic assignments and has been called upon to give oral evidence in various Court, Tribunal and Disciplinary proceedings. His assignments have included:

-a broad spectrum of matrimonial, personal injury, fatal accident and commercial dispute work, assisting solicitors and insurers with the quantum issues and occasionally the liability issues of cases

-professional negligence work in the financial services sector, particularly concerning pensions misselling, discretionary management, broker fund management and general investment advice

-routine compliance monitoring, special investigations and consultancy assignments on behalf of retail financial services regulators (PIA, IMRO, LAUTRO, SIB, FSA) and regulated businesses

-various investment fraud enquiries including theft, deception, forgery and money laundering, on behalf of the police and other prosecution authorities

-expert witness testimony involving investment advice and investment transactions in relation to judicial review proceedings and professional indemnity claims.
