Medical Illustration requires an aptitude for both medical analysis and visual communication. The best medical illustrators have a passion for science and medicine and innate artistic talent. In application, the illustrator communicates medical information in the most appropriate manner for the intended consumer.

Undergraduate Requirements: A bachelors degree from an accredited college or university, with either a major in art and minor in biological sciences, or a major in science and minor in art.

Pre-Med Science Courses: General Biology / Zoology, Comparative Vertebrate Anatomy, Human
Physiology, Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, Physics, Embryology, and Histology

Representative Illustration Courses: Drawing, Color Theory, Painting, Life Drawing, Graphic Design, Advertising Design, Photography, and Computer Graphics.
