Gastric Cancer- is a disease in which malignant cells arise in the tissues of the stomach. Early symptoms can include indigestion, mild nausea, loss of appetite, heartburn
or weightloss. In more advanced stages symptoms may include blood in the stool,positive guiac, vomiting, increasing weight loss, or pain in the stomach. Known risk factors include prior stomach infections, smoking, frequent diet of spicy foods, and familial predisposition. Most cancers of the stomach are adenocarcinomas of which there are many types.
Esophagus- a long hollow muscular tube which connects the mouth to the stomach. Esophageal cancer is a disease where malignant cells arise in the tissues of the esophagus. The most common symptom is difficulty in swallowing. It can also be associated with weight loss and sometimes pain or discomfort behind the sternum or breast bone or indigestion. There are two main types of esophageal cancer,including adenocarcinoma and squamous cell carcinomasas. People with frequent gastric reflux have an increased risk of developing esophageal cancer, often associated with obesity.
