Short Biography:

Over 20 years experience as an elevator and escalator engineer with ten years experience as an expert witness. He is one of the UK's leading consulants having had numerous papers published in the World trade press including Elevator World, he is also a regular columnist on safety in teh UK trade journal Elevation. David was also the author of The Elevator & Escalator Micropedia published by The International Association of Elevator Engineers

He was one of the founding partners of LECS (UK) Ltd in 1991. He has also had the distinction of being a Director of The Institute of Incorporated Executive Engineers (1993-1999) whom he has represented on British Standards Institution committees for lifts and escalators since 1990. He was the Chairman of the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers Lift Group from 1996 to 1999. He is currently the UK co-ordinator for the International Association of Elevator Engineers.

David undertakes Expert Witness assignments for the practice and assists Harry Dukes on major projects. He holds ''Law Society checked & listed status'' for his work in the expert witness field and has acted in many notable civil and criminal cases involving lifts and escalators. He has also undertaken many investigations into fatal accidents.

His professional qualifications were obtained at the University of Brighton, North East Surrey College of Technology, The Open University, City of Westminster College, Nene College, Cleveland College, Crawley College and Croydon College. He is Registered at Incorporated level with the Engineering Council and is a professional member of various recognised Institutions within the UK as well as the USA, Hong Kong and Australia. He is also the appointed lecturer on vertical transportation for the Mid-Career College, Cambridge.

Prior to forming LECS (UK) Ltd he held senior posts with the technical services division of Royal Insurance as a District Engineer Surveyor and Trainer responsible for the West End of London. Prior to this he was a staff engineer and area safety officer for Kone Marryatt Scott following his apprenticeship with British Rail's outdoor machinery division.

He was awarded the Highfield Shield in 1993 by The Institute of Incorporated Executive Engineers for a professional paper promoting escalator safety and also the Licentiateship of The City & Guilds Institute of London in 1988.

He is a prolific writer and has had papers published in Elevator World (USA), Lift Report (Germany), Elevatori (Italy), Safety Management (UK), Premises & Facilities Management (UK), Executive Engineer (UK), Elevatori Kai (Japan) and he is a Regular columnist on safety related matters in ''Elevation'', the UK trade journal on lifts & escalators. He has also authored a book entitled the ''Elevator & Escalator Micropedia'' with co-authors Dr George Barney and John Inglis published by The International Association of Elevator Engineers. He has also contributed to other books, including being a Principal author of the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers Guide D - Vertical Transportation In Buildings and a featured author in Elevator Technology editions 7 and 9 published by The International Association of Elevator Engineers. He had the lead article in the trade journal Elevator World in March 1998.
