Ericsson Fiber Access, Menlo Park, CA 1993-1998 Director OS Product Development
Managed department responsible for systems engineering, software design, development, testing and product support for RIDES, BroadView and craft interface products. RIDES and BroadView are network management systems responsible for narrowband and broadband technologies. This work involved the technical direction of six managers and forty-five people in developing and supporting network managements systems for domestic and international markets. These systems are UNIX based systems with client server architecture developed on a SUN platform using a relational database management system. Also extensive customer interaction in supporting new and existing product deployments.
Bell Communications Research, Piscataway, NJ 1984-1992 Executive Director
Managed departments of approximately 75 people responsible Operations Support System software design, development, testing, systems engineering and deployment. These departments included Planning and Engineering Systems (Plug-in Inventory Control (PICS), Facility & Equipment Planning System (FEPS), Local Switch & Demand Facilities (LSD&F), Job Tracking & Capital Management (JT/CM) and corporate database systems), Network Applications Systems (Circuit Installation Maintenance Assistance Package (CIMAP), Work & Force Administration (WFA), Generic Dispatch System (GDS), Operations Intelligent Network Element (OPS/INE), Network Monitoring & Analysis (NMA), Integrated Test System (ITS), customer controlled configuration system (FLEXCOM), network distribution (TSEND) and Technician Access Network (TAN).
Developed a new revenue stream for Bellcore by developing the Operations System Management Integration of Network Elements (OSMINE) process. This process involves network element vendors paying for software modifications to Bellcore (now Telcordia) Operation Support Systems. The OSMINE process has grown to be a significant revenue generator ($50 million annually) for Telcordia.
Bell Laboratories, Piscataway, NJ 1974-1983 District Manager
Managed the Trunks Integrated Record Keeping System (TIRKS) work program and budget. This was an $80M budget covering 50 projects. Responsibilities included developing work proposals, marketing proposals to clients, cost negotiations, resource and expense allocations, monitoring and tracking expenses, implementing cost containment strategies and forecasting expenses.
Managed customer support operations for TIRKS. This involved providing 24 x 7 customer support to 22 customer sites. This work included daily client interaction, meeting service objectives for timeliness and quality, developing release documentation, release overview client presentations, defining maintenance release, developing installation procedures, product training and installation testing.
