SUMMARY OF EXPERIENCE
1. Architecture design of next generation IP optical networks including technologies such as IP/SONET, IP/DWDM, Gigabit Ethernet, and RPR.
2. Quality of service management and allocation of resources in WLANs, 3G and beyond wireless networks.
3. Cost analysis and evaluation of Operations Support Systems (OSSs) and GMPLS control plane for telecommunications carriers and vendors.
4. Performance analysis of traffic engineering and control mechanisms in ATM, IP, optical and wireless networks, including enabling IPVPN and VoIP services using MPLS.
5. Development and planning of a QoS migration strategy to support future services such as IP VPN, VoIP for AT&T next generation IP/DWDM networks.
6. Development of many adaptive and intelligent techniques to provide QoS guarantees for multimedia traffic in ATM, IP, and 3G mobile networks.
7. Preparation of technical and market analysis studies to carriers (e.g., AT&T, US-WEST, Verizon, Bell South, SBC) on architecture solutions for metro optical networks.
I have acquired my experience through participation in, and supervision of many research and development projects both in academia and industry (e.g., AT&T, Concert, Telcordia Technologies Applied Research Lab., SPRINT, NORTEL, in USA, and Telecom Italia in Italy).
Since 1992, I have supervised and co-supervised 10 doctoral dissertations and many Masters Theses in the areas of traffic control and engineering of ATM, IP, optical and wireless networks. My Ph.D. students are managers, and senior technical staff members at companies such as Lucent, and AT&T among others.
