Short Biography:

EW #1994 retired after over 25 years as a professor of manufacturing, operations, purchasing, and supply chain management. Currently serving a variety of clients, he has over 30 years of manufacturing experience in industry, consulting, and continuing education. Serves internationally as an expert witness in litigation involving manufacturing operations and materials supply management.

Heis an academic member of NAPM-Dallas, and has been an active member of the North Texas Chapter of APICS, The Educational Society for Resource Management. His formal education in industrial engineering and production management is from the University of Cincinnati. He has held line and staff positions at Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, Michigan and has served as a consultant to management for many years. He is a certified purchasing manager (C.P.M.) by the Institute of Supply Management (ISM) formally known as the National Association of Purchasing Management (NAPM) and is also recognized at the Fellow level by APICS as certified in production and inventory management (CFPIM) as well as certified in integrated resource management (CIRM). Dr. B. is officially recognized as an APICS Qualified Instructor (AQI).

Past recipient of NAPM-Dallas Hubert Fuller Award, also a recipient of the 1996 APICS International Student Chapter Mentor Award, being the second person to receive this prestigious award. He has been twice nominated for the Shelton Award, NAPMs highest recognition for voluntary service.

Former NAPM District 2 Director for the Materials Management Group and District 2 Director (representative) to the Academic Planning Committeenow known as the Education Resource Committee.

EXPERT-WITNESS SERVICE:
1998-99 Municipality vs. construction contractors: represented plaintiff; case involved estimating cost of productivity losses due to faulty construction of municipal building. The facility housed court, jail, law enforcement, and emergency communications personnel. Construction failures resulted in water infiltration through exterior walls as well as the roof. Productivity losses were estimated by an innovative application of learning curve theory. Was deposed by defendants attorneys. Settled prior to trial.

1997 Investor group vs. manufacturing firm: represent defendant; case involved market valuation of manufacturing firm and full-disclosure of sales, production, and shipping performance. Subtopics included alarm system configuration control, materials cycle, scheduling linearity, and operations performance-to-schedule. Settled out-of-court.

1996-97 Manufacturing firm vs. merchandiser: represented defendant; case involved international manufacturing processes, international acquisitions, international shipments, capacity determination, tooling requirements, contract manufacturing, equipment selection, sea container capacity, plant efficiency and utilization, forecasting, product specifications, and production scheduling. Settled out-of-court.

MEDIATION SERVICE:
1997 Services provided as a mediator for an international telephone operating company to assist with resolution of contract terms interpretation and fulfillment with international provider (manufacturer) of telecommunications network and subscriber equipment.

HONORS:
Recipient of the College of Business Administration Outstanding Professor Award, 1998. Awarded by the Council of Business Students.
Recipient of the 1996 APICS Student Chapter Mentor Award. Award presentation was made at the Annual International Conference in New Orleans and repeated at the Region VI Leadership Meeting in Dallas. The honor is based on lifetime achievements and service -- only two people had been so honored.

Honorary Nominations
Nominated for the Shipman Gold Medal Award Given by NAPM at the International Conference-1995 and 1998.
