EW #13751 began his law enforcement career with the Winston-Salem, N.C. Police Department. Assignments included Patrol, Street Drug Interdiction (SDIU), SWAT, Planning & Research, first line supervisor, basic academy instructor and in-service trainer. Jon left Winston-Salem to become the Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET; or POST) Director for the North Carolina Department of Justice. He managed all research, development and revision efforts for the States 16 week, 602 hour, mandated certification curriculum.
EW #13751is currently the Personnel Development Director and Public Information Officer for the Garner, N.C. Police Department. He supervises all department training, recruitment, performance appraisal programs, early warning systems, internal selection and promotional processes. Jon also coordinates all media activities to include press release creation and on camera interviews.
EW #13751is an adjunct instructor with the IACP and a consultant for the USDOJ Project Safe Neighborhood Firearms Interdiction Program. He has been a guest lecturer for ASLET, IALEFI and is a published author.
JEW #13751has earned several nationally recognized instructor certifications in both use of force and fitness arenas. They include Armor Holdings, ASP, Taser International, H&K, the American College of Sports Medicine (Health & Fitness Instructor) and Cooper Institute for Aerobics Research (Public Safety Fitness Specialist).
EW #13751earned his B.S. in Criminal Justice and M.P.A. from the University of North Carolina. He is also a recognized expert witness for law enforcement training, use of force and report writing issues.
EW #13751enjoys exercise, travel, water skiing, reading and is a five-time 26 mile marathon finisher.
